Can’t believe this was already a few weeks ago! Seems like yesterday I was just in New York for Fashion Week and now already only a few more days away until Paris Fashion Week! If you follow me on insta I have NOT yet announced it but YASSSSS your girl is going to Paris for Fashion Week again this weekend for the Chanel show! So excited!! Can’t wait to share all the exciting moments with you guys while down there! Stay tuned! XX
Probably one of my.. IF NOT.. My favourite collections from New York Fashion Week!! When I saw the crystal pieces come down for the final three looks YOU already know I started shaking in my boots! I literally have never needed anything more in my entire life then I need that crystal jumpsuit on Jasmine Tookes!
Haute Couture is something of a phenomena for me.. I say this because a couple years back I had the pleasure of being a guest of Chanel and travelling to Paris to experience the Lesage & Lemarie couture ateliers where I really got to see, learn and feel the passion and artwork that goes behind creating couture pieces.. The endless hours of embroidery, the insanely precise attention to detail and of course the beautiful and untouchable work that ends up being produced..
For Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture collection (that I am sure we ALL unapologetically glued our eyes to during Couture Week) Karl Lagerfeld ‘transposed the ambiance of 31, rue Cambon without copying every detail.’ Inspired by the very things that are iconic Chanel… One main part being the mirrors that reflect the grand staircase leading up to the CHANEL Haute Couture salons, makes this collection one of my favourite Chanel Haute Couture collections to date, and that is pretty monumental for me considering that Chanel’s Fall 2010 Haute Couture collection has not only been a favourite from the brand but has been one of if not my most favourite Haute Couture collection in GENERAL!! I loved the super metallic and slick vibes.. It was such a contrast of such futuristic elements but with classic silhouettes.. I loved how Gatsby from the future, everything felt!
This season Karl Lagerfeld maintained his mastery at blending fabrics to create such unique textiles for the garments… I saw a lace laminated in a sort of plastic intertwined into a jacket that you would never notice until you really looked and felt.. The extreme sequin tuxedo literally had me wishing I could find prince charming already and plan my fitting for my wedding look #YASSSSS!! There were so many overwhelming moments for me because YOU KNOW how much I love sparkle and shine when done so, so tastefully!! This was literally yet another dream-like-state-inducing-experience c/o of my friends at Chanel!!! See more pictures below and be whisked away to another reality with me.. Even just for a moment!! Enjoy!! Xx
Every season, one of my highlights of flocking to New York Fashion Week, is the time I get to spend with my Chanel family at the seasonal Haute Couture appointment. Jump in the car uptown to the Chanel offices, ascend the model maintained elevator to the magic floor where dreams come true and there is nothing but Haute Couture filling up an entire room.. Then you blink twice and realize YAS, this is real (lol!).. This season like every other, I have had the pleasure of once again attending and getting my time with yet another exceptional beautiful and always crazily cool Haute Couture collection from Chanel.. This season, the collection as always had all the signature elements, the iconic jackets, suits, skirts & you know, that iconic Chanel look..
For this season, the collection was themed 3D… Fitting, after learning that pieces and elements from the collection were actually constructed using the 3D printing process to create shell like bodies for jackets and details for other looks… Another amazing element was (as we’ve seen in the past) the blend of elements, textures and textiles… Karl never ceases to amaze me when you really get to look up close at some of these clothes and realize just how much thought goes into everything… The aesthetic was a bit more military with more masculine shapes and silhouettes which obviously I was oohing and awwing over!!
Overall, as you can imagine it was another dream experience with the amazing team at Chanel! Thanks for having me again!! XoJay
Could you believe this was my first season attending a BCBG runway show during all the times I’ve been coming to New York Fashion Week? That being said, I was undoubtedly left in such an amazing mood after this early morning show! I really enjoyed how unexpected I felt everything was, from the beautiful fringe details to the fur paneled jackets, to the navajo-esque inspired embroidered, prints and patterns that made their way throughout the collection.
Personally I can’t exactly put a percise and pinpointed finger down on one signature style I grabbed from this collection but I definitely understand the perspective and the point of view. From my stance this collection is culmination of indigenous inspirations, eastern European functionality and cool girl chicness. I love the styling almost as much as I love the coats. The coats were such a standout for me and definitely must have pieces when they hit stores.
For Fall 2015, BCBGMAXAZRIA RUNWAY journeys north from the vibrant city of Barcelona to the shores of the Baltic Sea. Reconciling effortless streetwear with bohemian undertones, the collection underlines our muse’s independent spirit and irresistible sense of adventure. A rich winter palette envelops the collection. Gradating shades of white, tan and camel transition into rich merlot, ink blue and black. A visual feast of embroideries, textures and prints adorns the surfaces of tunic dresses, voluminous outerwear and layering separates for a decisive emphasis on sportswear.Supple over-the-knee boots and fur-accented booties add an unexpected toughness with a modern edge.
Every season I am always so excited to attend the Diesel Black/Gold runway shows, both men & women’s, not only because of the grand level of detail and cool production behind each show but because of the constant element of surprise. I feel that every season designer Andreas Melbostad, strengthens the energy of the brand by incorporating new and refreshing design assets to the sensibility and soul of the Diesel Black/Gold brand. Whether it be using furs for fall or the signature rock studs and leather details for spring, each season always has a exciting added flavour taking each collection to a new level. This season there was colour, skin, classic style and a whole lot of signature leather and studs. The show was exciting, energetic and I am definitely excited to get my hands on some of the pieces next season! Also, make sure you check out the Diesel Black/Gold Men’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection as well on my blog!!! Also, stay tuned to social media because I will be sharing my live videos from the show with the #HPPRINT Live Photo technology!!
Right from the moment I landed in New York it was GO GO GO! That evening I had the pleasure of attending and co-hosting ‘The Line Up’ Spring/Summer 2014 presentation from COI & my fave’s LPD! I was so happy to support a close brand and be a there for them on their 1 year mark. It was also so amazing to see LPD expanding their designs and trying new things with a new unexpected approach adding a sweet amount of variety to the label. I obviously love the merger of high fashion and street wear and that is exactly what is happening here. Luxe looking textures with classic street-cuts, a perfect match if I must say so myself. See more of the collection below!!
Give me monochromatic, give me black and white and you win my heart but do it with animalier inspired cutouts and the cleanest lines of the season, you just slayed me! I love the intensley sporty and downtown feel of Alexander Wang’s spring/Summer 2013 RTW collection. There is so much out of control insaneness here, how sections of clothing seemed to magically be floating and holding position. It was such an inspiring collection and definitely FASHGAZM worthy.
From the separates and dresses to the shoes you can feel that there is something magical about this collection that seriously made one of the biggest statements this season at fashion week. Alexander Wang always has such an ability to clearly and directly convey his messages and themes through his work. You know his mood and you really get a feel for what he is thinking. What you see is what you get and I love it! AND THEN THEY GLOWED IN THE MOTHER FUCKIN’ DARK – no, I’m sorry I rarely swear on my blog anymore but I seriously had to because that my friend JUST SHUT IT DOWN like, I can go home now. Thanks people!
The boys of Public School NEVER dissapoint! No seriously, I always find myself in a constant love affair with the their collections. I was fortunate enough to be able to see the collection up close and personally a few weeks ago at Project, Las Vegas! Obviously it was great to see the clothes come to life on models. Public School is one of the few menswear brands that make me love and want to wear mens clothing (coming from the guy that wore a womens Balmain suit at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year) – from the cuts and lines, simple details and extra additions added to their collections. The quality and just overall look of the clothes is so on point. There is a great form and structure in the blazers, jackets, etc. I also love the color pallette, the soft nudes, whites, navys, blues, greys and blacks all play so perfectly with each other giving this collection the ability to be worn head to toe. Overall I have to say Public School is great because what they are doing is revitalizing classic menswear pieces and giving them more of a modern, street feel making them more (obviously) applicable to the current times and to the very cool modern day man.
